UNIX training introduction

UNIX tutorial

Let me introduce about myself, I have 7.5 yrs of exp. in IT industry and specialized in Mainframe, SAS, IBM WebSphere WAS, Unix/Linux, Coolgen.

This blog is mainly initiated for the students who has completed their studies freshly came out from college. Initially I will start with UNIX Training session then we will start Linux Training session. Being genuine, please note that I referred plenty of websites to list out this tutorial to understand quickly. Thank you for other Unix/Linux techies for their wonderful tutorials. Also kindly suggest me pros/cons to improve this blog.

Day1:

What is OS (Operating system) ?

In short,

      > It runs computer and allows other programs to run as well.
      > It do all the basic things that a computer needs to do such as recognizing input from mouse or
         keyboard.
      > It keeps track of where all the files are on computer.
      > It allocates resources to the various programs that are running on computer.

What is UNIX?

      > UNIX operating system is a set of programs that acts as a link between computer and user.
      > It was originally developed in 1969 by a group of AT&T employees at Bell Labs including
         Ken Thompson, Dennis Ritchie, Douglas McIlroy and Joe Ossanna.
      > Unix is having various such as Solaris Unix, AIX, UP Unix and BSD are few examples.
      > Kernel is the heart of operating system.
         It interacts with hardware and most of the tasks like memory management, task scheduling and
         file management.
